Hey, I'm Kyle
CPA · Pokémon GO competitor · Trainer since 1998
Pokémon has been part of my life since sixth grade, when my parents got me Pokémon Red in 1998. From Red, I got Blue because I need to complete my Pokédex. Then I had to play Yellow so Pikachu could walk with me. I collected and played the TCG through Base Set 2. Like a lot of trainers, life eventually pulled me away for a while, but when Pokémon GO launched in 2016, I was right back in it. This time I brought my kids along, started collecting and playing again, and eventually found my way into competitive play.
Today, I am a regular at Pokémon GO League Cups and Challenges and have competed in three Regional Championships: Portland 2024 (#49 of 92), Portland 2025 (#65 of 106), and Seattle 2026 (#97 of 221). I also stream PvP Pokémon GO battles part-time on Twitch. A Pokémon centered accounting firm isn't a niche I chose because I thought it would make for good marketing, I have been part of this community for most of my life. I play the game, travel to events, compete alongside other trainers, and understand the time, money, and passion that goes into being part of the community.
I am also a licensed Oregon CPA and have been practicing since 2016. Over the years, I realized there was a gap between the Pokémon community and the tax professionals serving it. Tournament winnings, card sales, content creation, sponsorships, travel, inventory, and side businesses can create real tax questions and trainers should not have to teach their accountant how the Pokémon world works before they can get an answer. That's why I created Lavender Town Accounting: a tax firm where your CPA is already a trainer.
